Donald "Doc" DeGroot, age 56, of Waterville, died Friday, December 19, 2008 at the Immanuel-St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato, following a brief illness. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lukes Church in Faribault with the Rev. Aaron Brockmeier, pastor officiating. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to services. Donald Dean DeGroot, the son of Arthur Sr. and Dorothy (Kelsey) DeGroot, was born on January 5, 1952 in Rice County, MN. Doc worked for different construction companies including BMI and Met-Con Construction as a truck driver, Ames Construction as a heavy equipment operator and most recently he was working as a truck driver for Southside Wood Recycling in Waterville. Doc enjoyed visiting with others and fishing. He is survived by his fiance Robin Nagel of Waterville; by five children, Dave (Denys) DeGroot of Faribault, Samantha Hullett and Randy Novak of Faribault, Bruce DeGroot of Faribault, Paul (Samantha) DeGroot of Faribault and Carissa DeGroot of Waterville; by 13 grandchildren; by four brothers, Eugene (Kathy) Kelsey of Atlanta, GA, Robert (Lois) DeGroot of Faribault, Buck (Marilee) DeGroot of Faribault and Arthur DeGroot Jr. and fiance Missy Archambault of Faribault; by three sisters, Kay Kes, Sharon (Richard) Pirkl and Ardis (Al) Moldenhauer, all of Faribault and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
