Diane L. Olson, age 78 of Faribault, MN passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at the Koda Living Community in Owatonna, MN following an extended illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 25, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault with the Fr. Kevin Kenney, officiating. Interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery, Faribault.
Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N. in Faribault, on Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday for one hour prior to services.
Diane Louise, the daughter of Gerhard and Melena (Langevin) Johnson, was born on August 29, 1940 in Faribault. She attended Bethlehem Academy High School and graduated with the class of 1958. Following high school, Diane attended the Vera and Duane School of Cosmetology. On October 13, 1962 she was united in marriage to Rolland “Bud” Olson at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault. Bud preceded her in death on April 7, 1988. Diane worked as a beautician at Milady’s and later opened Diane Olson Salon in Medford. Later she worked as the hostess at the Evergreen Knoll and then was an administrative assistant at Bethlehem Academy High School for several years, retiring in 2010. Diane loved being the instigator of fun! She enjoyed spending time with all of her family, Christmas baking and candies, gardening, working out doors, camping, dancing, crossword puzzles and going to Silver Sneakers. She was a member of the Medford Civic Club.
She is survived by six children, Sally (Jeff) Donahe of Owatonna, MN, Ross (Rene) Olson of Medford, MN, Amy (Bill) Kenow of Blaine, MN Ed (Tammy) Olson of Owatonna, MN, Molly (Jeff) Schuster of Owatonna, MN and Peggy Olson of Faribault, MN; by 17 grandchildren and 4 step grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 6 step great grandchildren; by her sister, Gayle Tuthill of Faribault, MN and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter, Emmalea Olson and two sisters, Carole Zorn and Eileen McHugh.
