Diane M. Dienst, age 68 of Faribault, died on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at the Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 1, 2017 at 11:30 am at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault with Pastor John McEachran, pastor of Fourth Avenue United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be held at the Maple Lawn Cemetery, Faribault.
Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home on Monday from 9:30 to 11:30 am.
Diane Mae, the daughter of Ernest and Louise (Rhodes) Mortland, was born on November 1, 1948 in Tyler, MN. She attended Faribault High School and graduated with the class of 1966. On July 25, 1970 she was united in marriage to Charles Dienst in Mankato, MN. Diane worked as a bookkeeper for several businesses in Faribault including, Dr. Robert Meyer, Evergreen Knoll, Holiday Gas Station, R&S Sporting Goods and most recently with Witte Brothers Construction. Diane loved to work in her flower gardens and was known for her excellent baked goods. She was an avid Vikings fan, loved to go shopping, do crossword puzzles and word finds and most importantly spending time with her grandchildren and family.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Dienst of Faribault; by three daughters, Kari (John) Jacobson, Amy (Travis) Piper and Jenny (Patrick) Burch, all of Faribault; by seven grandchildren, Dillon Dunn (special friend, Brianna Horn), Cody Dunn, Connor Jacobson, Cassidy Jacobson, Ryder Piper, Adeline Piper and Cole Piper and by a great grandchild due this summer; by three siblings, Dorothy (Bud) Vangness of Ortonville, MN, Dwight (Judy) Mortland and Debbie Yessak, both of Faribault and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Donna Goetsch and by four brothers, Don, Dwayne, Delbert and Doug Mortland.
