David V. Caron, age 88 of Faribault, MN, died on Monday, April 21, 2025 at the Owatonna Hospital following an extended illness.
David Victor, the son of Victor and Louise (Erb) Caron was born on October 17, 1936 in Faribault, MN. He attended Faribault High School and graduated with the class of 1954. Following high school, Dave served in U.S. Navy. On July 18, 1959 he was united in marriage to Arlene Piper at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Faribault. Dave worked for MNDOT Highway Department in Rice County as a maintenance driver to start and retired as a shop foreman after 30 years of service. During this time Dave was also a lifelong farmer in Cannon City Township. He was also an Auctioneer, and this was his real passion. He traveled all over the Midwest with this trade and enjoyed it every minute of it. He auctioned for many years at the Rice County Fair for the 4-H sale. In retirement, Dave and Arlene wintered for a few years in Texas. Dave loved his Belgian Horses and caring for them. He had them in many parades over the years. Dave also enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and most of all spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Rice County Steam and Gas Club, the Cannon Valley Saddle Club and the Rice County Sheriff’s Posse for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Arlene Caron of Faribault, MN; by three sons, Rick Caron, Doug (Linda) Caron and Brad Caron, all of Faribault, MN; by four grandchildren, Dani Caron, Adam Caron, Jessica Wilson and Renee Caron and eight great grandchildren; by four siblings, Roger Caron, Ray Caron, both of Faribault, MN, Mary Lou Clevenger of Waseca, MN and Carol David of Colorado and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son Jeff Caron, grandson, Andy Caron, daughter-in-law, Pam Caron and by many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault with Bernadette Tatge, Pastoral Minister officiating. Interment will be held at St. Lawrence Cemetery, Faribault with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Organization.
Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home on Tuesday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
