David A. Thompson, age 65 of Eagle Lake, died peacefully on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at his home following an extended illness.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, July 3rd at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Smiths Mill, with Rev. Keith Bilitz and Rev. Del Begalka, officiating. Interment with military honors will be in the Eagle Lake Cemetery.
The Thompson Family will greet friends on Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory in Janesville, and will continue on Wednesday morning for one hour prior to services at church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Andreas Cancer Center, Mayo Health System-Mankato.
David Arthur was born on April 30, 1948 to Lloyd C. and June L. (Hall) Thompson in Mankato, Minnesota. He graduated from St. Clair High School in 1966. On January 2, 1968 David enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged on January 8, 1971. On August 6, 1976 he was united in marriage to Robin Michele Lindrud in Las Vegas, Nevada. David and Robin raised their family and have resided in rural Eagle Lake their entire married life. Early in his career David was employed by WW Blacktopping Inc. of Mankato, and later drove truck for waste oil businesses in the surrounding area. For the last 23 years he was employed at Tire Associates in Mankato as an alignment specialist on semis and trucks. He enjoyed woodworking, spending time on his computer, photography and sitting on his deck with his cup of coffee and watching birds. He cherished time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Robin of Eagle Lake; daughters, Jennifer Thompson of Pemberton, Tina Janzen of Mountain Lake and Carrie Sack; mother, June Thompson of Eagle Lake; sisters, Dianne (Dave) Willaert of Good Thunder, Darla (Bryan) Vulcan of Rapid City, SD, Dawn (Dale) Neumann and Debbie (Rick) Behnke all of Lake Crystal; brothers, Doug Thompson of St. Peter, Donley (Pam) Thompson of Morristown; aunts, Donna Hall of Mankato, Pauline Arbuckle of OH; uncles, Raymond (Neda) Becker of Elysian, Cy Kaus of Mankato; brother-in-law, Charles Lindrud of AZ; sister-in-law, Cathy Hepburn of AZ; by many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; father, Lloyd Thompson on October 5, 2002; brother, Danny Thompson on May 4, 2004; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Vic (Val) Lindrud; brother-in-law, Cory Lindrud in 2007; by many special aunts and uncles.
