David E. Schmitz

David E. “Dave” Schmitz, age 73 of Faribault, MN passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, January 1, 2025 surrounded by his family.

David Edward, the son of Justin and Cecelia (Jandro) Schmitz was born on April 27, 1951 in Northfield, MN. He attended Bethlehem Academy High School and graduated with the class of 1969. Following high school Dave attended the Faribault Vocational and Technical College. On December 13, 1969 he was united in marriage to Linda Reichert at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault. Dave worked for many years at MTI Office Systems, now Nomad Technology, starting in Customer Service and retiring as a Manufacturing Supervisor. Dave was a member of the Police Reserves in Plymouth, MN for 10 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, being outside and doing yardwork, watching movies, golfing and especially bowling which he did for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda Schmitz of Faribault, MN; by his daughters, Angela Schmitz of Maple Grove, MN and Andrea (Tom) Harris of Maple Grove, MN; by four grandchildren, Maxwell Roers, Hana Roers, Devin Schmitz, and Ashley Harris; by his siblings, Dorothy Schmidtke of Farmington, MN, Rita Feuchtenberger of Plymouth, MN, Art (Joyce) Schmitz of Loveland, CO, Rick (Lori) Schmitz of Valparaiso, IN and Joy (Al) Malecha of Northfield, MN and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his infant sister, Dolores Schmitz, his brother, Larry (Karen) Schmitz and by two nieces, Jodi Zenti and Jacqueline “Jackee” Reichert.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault with Fr. Hjalmar Gudjonsson officiating. Interment will be held at St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault at a later date.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Sunday, January 5, 2025 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday for one hour prior to services.
