Daniel P. Byron, age 58 of Rochester, formerly of Waseca, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, following a short battle with kidney cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 10th at 2:00 P.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca with Fr. Marty Schaefer and Fr. Harry Jewison, Celebrants. Interment will be in Waseca's Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M. at McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory Waseca, and will continue Friday afternoon for one hour prior to services, at church. Memorials in Daniel's memory may be directed to Sisters of St. Francis-Assisi Heights, Rochester, Minnesota.
Daniel Paul was born on November 15, 1954 to James F. and Rita M. (Jewison) Byron in Waseca, Minnesota. He attended Sacred Heart High School and graduated in 1973 from Waseca High School. He went on to study at St. Mary's College in Winona for two years, before transferring to the University of Minnesota, St. Paul Campus where he earned his B.S. degree in Animal Science and belonged to Farmhouse Fraternity. Dan returned to Waseca to farm with his father and brothers until 1990. He moved to Rochester where he has worked in food service for the Sisters of St. Francis-Assisi Heights. Dan enjoyed horticulture, woodworking, and music.
He is survived by his parents, James and Rita Byron of Waseca; siblings, Thomas E. (Patty) Byron of Ellendale, Helen Kingsley of Waseca, James W. (Brenda) Byron of Waseca, Karen (Tom) Pathoulas of Mantorville, Rita (Roger) Liddell of Eau Claire, WI, Dr. David (Lisa) Byron of Hutchinson, Chris Byron of Waseca, Donna (Dr. Jeff) Alto of Mankato, Martha (Jim) Buntrock of Rochester, and Joe Byron of Hutchinson; by many nieces and nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William and Elmira (Conway) Byron, and his maternal grandparents, Arthur and Kathryn (Cahill) Jewison.
Casketbearers are Dan's siblings: Thomas E. Byron, Helen Kingsley, James W. Byron, Karen Pathoulas, Rita Liddell, David Byron, Chris Byron, Donna Alto, Martha Buntrock, and Joe Byron.
