Cyril A. "Cy" Jandro, age 92 of Faribault, died on Monday, January 18, 2016 at the Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna following a brief illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, in Faribault. Interment will be held at the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association.
Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m.
Arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault.
Cyril Anthony, the son of Edward and Elizabeth (Vandeputte) Jandro, was born on August 17, 1923 at their family farm in Walcott Township, Rice County, MN. As a young man Cy served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the Engineer Corps. After his honorable discharge Cy was united in marriage to Betty K. Raskob on June 1, 1948 at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Faribault. Cy worked for 30 years at Jandro Excavating. He was also a farmer at heart and enjoyed gardening in retirement. Cy also enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, fishing and playing cards. Cy was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the VFW Post 1562, the American Legion Post 43, the Last Man's Club and served for many years as a member of the Honor Guard with the Rice County Central Veterans.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty Jandro of Faribault; by six daughters, Kathleen (Guy) Swanson of Faribault, Sharanne (Patrick) Gruber of Morristown, Deanna Maas, Cynthia Lennon and Connie Roosmalen, all of Faribault and Pamela (Andrew) Malecha of Waterville, MN; by his daughter-in-law, Joan Jandro of Faribault; by 18 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; by brothers and sisters, Walter (Ramona) Jandro of Owatonna, Lois Malecha of Faribault, Thomas (Phyllis) Jandro of Faribault, Dale Jandro of Faribault, Alfred (Edith) Jandro of Owatonna, Elizabeth (George) Mullenberg of Spooner, WI, Diane (James) Rech, Joseph (Sandra) Jandro and Eli (Nancy Craig) Jandro all of Faribault; by 2 sisters-in-law, Joyce and Patricia Jandro and 2 brothers-in-law, Jack Sammon and John (Kay) Raskob and by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by his son, Douglas Jandro, by 2 grandsons, Patrick K. and James Gruber, by 3 brothers, Howard, Stanley and Roger Jandro, by his brother-in-law, Jerald Malecha and by 2 sisters-in-law, Ardis Sammon and Patricia M. Jandro.
