Craig S. Schmahl, age 56 of Madison Lake, died on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, February 18th at 3:00 P.M. at Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory in Janesville, with Rev. Roger Haug, officiating.

The Schmahl Family will greet friends on Monday afternoon from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. prior to services, at the funeral home

Craig Scott was born on August 8, 1956 to Irvin W. and Delma E. (O'Brien) Schmahl in Mankato, Minnesota. He attended Wilson Campus School in Mankato, and Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount. He was united in marriage on October 4, 1975 to Linda Andersen in Waseca, Minnesota. To this union, they were blessed with a daughter, Angela. They later divorced. On November 17, 1979 he married Debra M. McGuire in Huron, South Dakota. Craig and Debra raised their family and lived in the Madison Lake area their entire married life. For most of his career Craig was a self employed carpenter. Most recently he was employed by Onan Power Electronics in St. Peter, retiring in 2008. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, cooking and gardening. Craig loved time spent with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Debra of Madison Lake; sons, Christopher (Amanda) Schmahl of Madison Lake, and Jonathan (Heather) Schmahl of Cleveland; daughters, Angela (Billy) Brooks of Waseca, and Kristina (Scott) Schmahl of Madison Lake; 9 grandchildren, Ashley Schmahl, Brady Schmahl, Alexa Brooks, Owen Padgett, Josie Schmahl, Hunter Schmahl, Tyler Schmahl, Lucas Schmahl and Evan Fick; brother, Steven Schmahl of North Mankato; sister, Lisa (Scott) Hammett of Madison Lake; sisters-in-law, Cindy (David) Blaschko of St. Peter, Sue (David) Beard of Hager City, WI, Diane Ytuarte of Waseca, and Jill McGuire of Red Wing; by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edward (Mary) McGuire; brothers-in-law, Doug McGuire and Albert Ytuarte; and sister-in-law Debra Schmahl.
