Clement L. “Clem” McShane, age 93, of Faribault, MN, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2025, at his home following an extended illness.
Clement Leonard, the son of Henry and Florence (Hickey) McShane, was born on February 14, 1932, in Faribault. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, receiving two Bronze Service Stars. He was married to Katherine Koktavy on October 10, 1956, in Montgomery, MN. Clem owned and operated the DX gas station in Faribault, then worked construction for various contractors, and was a truckdriver. He then worked at Crown Cork & Seal for 12 years, and McQuay’s (Daikin) for 15 years. In conjunction with his work, he farmed for over 60 years in Wells Township. Clem was a member of the American Legion Post 43. He enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, and riding ATV and side-by-sides. He especially enjoyed riding in the sand dunes.
He is survived by his children, Susan Hein (David), and Carol Baynes (Floyd); grandchildren, Jeremy Baynes (Juli), Amanda Baynes, Megan Southworth (Ryan), Michael Hein (Maureen), and Andrew Hein (Brittany); twelve great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine on May 2, 2006; parents, Henry and Florence; brother and sister-in-law, James and Barbara McShane; and special friend, Dorothy Machacek.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Allina Hospice of Owatonna for the extraordinary care they provided for Clem.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Faribault, with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association. Visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the church.
