Clare A. Boyd, age 96 of Faribault, died Friday, February 6, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN following a short illness.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault with Pastor Bob Toner, officiating. Inurnment will take place at the Calvary Episcopal Church Columbarium in Rochester, MN.
The family will greet relatives and friends for one hour prior to services at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory.
The family prefers that in lieu of flowers memorials be directed to the St. Vincent de Paul Society in memory of Clare.
Clare A. Boyd, the son of Duane and Hazel (Ford) Boyd, was born on December 8, 1918 in Rochester, MN. He attended Rochester High School and graduated with the class of 1936. After high school Clare served in the U.S. Navy during World War II mostly in the Pacific Theater. After his service he returned to work with REA Express, beginning as a driver and later advancing to various supervisory positions in Sioux Falls and Madison, SD and in Faribault, Duluth, St. Paul and Minneapolis, MN. Clare also led special assignments in Chicago, IL and Indianapolis, IN. His last assignment before retirement was REA Manager at Reagan and Dulles Airports in the Washington, DC area. He was united in marriage to Catherine Waters and they resided in Rochester for many years. After their divorce, Clare married Marian Wade. Together they enjoyed traveling all over the United States and each fall they would return back to the east coast to enjoy the fall season there. Marian preceded him in death on July 24, 2013. Clare was a life time member of the VFW Post 1562, American Legion Post 43, the Faribault Aerie 1460 Fraternal Order of Eagle's and the Elk's Lodge 1166, all in Faribault. Clare worked at Grandpa Al's from 1981 until his retirement in 2011.
He is survived by his son Duane Joe (Joan) Boyd of Rosemount. By Marian's children, Michael (Marilyn) Wade of Stanchfield, Judy (John) Walter of Byron, Linda Wade of Houston, TX, Teri Tesch-Wade of Rochester and Billy (Vicky) Wade of Lake City and by many grandchildren and many great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters, Ruby Boyd and Margaret Carlson and his brother, Danny Boyd.
