Chester Miotke

Chester S. "Chet" Miotke, age 85 of Janesville, died on Sunday, March 14, 2010 at the Janesville Nursing Home.             Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 17th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church in Janesville with Fr. Peter Klein, Celebrant. Interment will be in the Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.             The Miotke Family will greet friends on Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:30 at Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home in Janesville, and will continue on Wednesday morning for one hour prior to services, at church. Memorials are preferred to the St. Ann Building Fund, or the Janesville Nursing Home.             Chester Stanley was born on July 5, 1924 in Grenville, South Dakota to Leo and Mary Miotke. "Chet" served in the United States Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. Following his honorable discharge in 1945 he returned home, and on August 17, 1948 was united in marriage to Lucille E. Lardy in Eden, South Dakota. Chet attended plumbing and pipe fitting apprentice school in Chicago, Illinois. Chet and Lucille raised their family and resided in Madison Lake. Chet worked in the Mankato area for over 50 years in the plumbing business, primarily with Cuddy Mechanical, and Mankato Plumbing and Heating. Following his retirement, they lived in Pine River for nine years before moving to Janesville in 1998. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Janesville, the Madison Lake American Legion # 269, the Mankato VFW, and the Plumber and Pipe Fitter Union # 561.              Chet is survived by his wife Lucille of Janesville; by his children Jan (Steve) Johnson of Brainerd, Jean (Dick) Thomas of St. Cloud, Chuck (Joni) Miotke of White Bear Lake, and Mary Kay (Miles) Wandersee of Logan, Utah; by nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.             He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and three sisters.
