Charles A. Culhane, age 87, of Faribault, died Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at the District One Hospital in Faribault. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, at Sacred Heart, in Faribault. Interment will be held at St. Lawrence Cemetery, Faribault. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers the family prefers that memorials be directed to the Faribault Area Hospice or the American Cancer Society. Charles Allen Culhane, the son of Daniel and Wilhelmina (Wilts) Culhane, was born on June 30, 1921 in Elkton, SD. On September 5, 1944 he was united in marriage to Catherine Mach at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Waterville, MN. Chuck first started working with his brothers at the Faribault Sales Yard and then farmed for eleven years near Morristown. In 1966 Chuck began working at the Faribault Regional Center. He worked there until 1978 when he started at Pleasant Manor Nursing Home and worked there until his retirement in 1986. In retirement he stayed busy working part time for Slinger Tree Moving and the Faribault Community CO-OP. Family was very important to Chuck and he enjoyed spending time with all of his family. He also enjoyed working on his trucks and was very proud of them. He was a lifelong member of the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Catherine Culhane of Faribault; by five children, Darlene (Stanley) Keough of Faribault, David (Nancy) Culhane of Morristown, Danny Culhane of Faribault, Donna (Joe) Slinger of Faribault and Chuck (Marsha) Culhane of Faribault; by 11 grandchildren, Dan Keough and his two daughters Cassie and Demi, Tami Lucas, Sheri (Jon) Velishek and their daughter Mackenzie, Doug Culhane, Paula (Scott) O'Malley and their daughter, Emily, Jason (Jane) Culhane and their four children, Cody, Trisha, Ashley and Stephanie, Ryan (Stephanie) Culhane, Ben Slinger, Jessi Slinger, Tom Culhane and Katrina Culhane and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his great grandson, Griffin Jon Velishek, by three brothers, Robert, Edward and John Culhane and by two sisters, Bertha Rickerl and Sis Mangels.
