Cecilia M. Newman

Cecilia M. Newman, age 75 of Faribault, MN and formerly of St. Paul, MN passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024 at her home following an extended illness.

Cecilia, “Ceal” was born on December 3, 1948 in St. Paul, MN, the daughter of Dorothy (Harris) Petschauer.  She was united in marriage to John M. Newman Sr. on September 25, 1982.  After John was discharged from the U.S. Army the couple moved to Egeland, ND where they farmed and raised their family, eventually moving to Cando, ND.  Ceal later became a CNA and worked at the Towner County Living Center for many years.

After the death of her husband, Ceal moved back to Minnesota to be closer to her family.  Ceal excelled in everything she put her hand to.  She crocheted, painted, and played the guitar and ukulele.  She was light-hearted and loved her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Dennis Wallisch, John Newman Jr., Joseph (Shanda Lee) Newman, Donna Hulsing (Kelly) & James Newman; brothers, Greg Petschauer (Wendy), Michael Petschauer (Mary), David Cook and many other relatives and friends.

 She was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Newman Sr.; mother, Dorothy Petschauer, and many other friends and loved ones.

 Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at The River Church in Faribault.

 Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to services.

 Funeral arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault.
