Catherine M. "Cathy" Rossow

Catherine M. “Cathy” Rossow, age 68 of Pine Island, MN passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at the Seasons Hospice House in Rochester, MN following an extended illness. 

Cathy, the daughter of Victor and Carol (Morsching) DeGrood, was born October 13, 1955 in Faribault, MN. She graduated from Faribault High School in 1973. On August 3, 1974, she married her high school sweetheart Gene Rossow at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Faribault, MN. She worked at Norwest Bank before joining the family business, DeGrood Oil, where she worked for 37 years until her retirement in 2014. She enjoyed making cut-out cookies, playing the organ, planting and tending to flowers on the Pine Island Golf Course, volunteering at various organizations, collecting snowmen, and attending any events her grandchildren participated in. She also enjoyed golfing and traveling with Gene over the years. 

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Gene Rossow, three sons, Brian (Alisa), Kevin (Carrie) and Jason (Melissa); seven grandchildren, Lindsey, Dylan, Aubrey, Brianna, Isaac, Norah, and Owen; brother, Mike (Ann) DeGrood and sister, Connie (Jeff) Allen; along with many brothers and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents. 

A special thank you to Seasons Hospice House for their compassionate care and assurance that her final days were comfortable. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 7, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive in Faribault, with Fr. Cory Rohlfing officiating. Interment will be held at the Maple Lawn Cemetery in Faribault. 

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Sunday, October 6, 2024 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday for one hour prior to services. There will be no reviewal at the church on Monday.
