Carol A. McCarthy, age 84 of Faribault, died Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at the St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Shieldsville, with the Rev. Kevin Finnegan, pastor officiating. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Faribault Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 12:00 noon until the hour of services. Arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home of Faribault. Carol Ann, the daughter of Clem and Margaret (Conley) McCarthy, was born on January 25, 1926 in Faribault, MN. Carol attended Bethlehem Academy High School and graduated with the class of 1943. Later Carol attended the College of St. Benedict and graduated in 1956. She then attended St. Louis University Graduate School of Social Work and earned her Master's Degree in 1964. Carol taught elementary school for several years and then was a social worker, retiring after many years as a social worker from the Mayo Clinic Sections of Child Psychiatry and Children's Oncology. While working at Mayo Clinic, Carol was one of the original board members for the Northland House which was later named the Ronald McDonald House. She is survived by her sisters, Margaret "Pat" Patton of St. Cloud, MN and Nancy McCarthy of Faribault and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother Timothy McCarthy.
