Carol M. DeGrood

Carol M. DeGrood, age 90, of Faribault, MN passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at the Benedictine Living Community in Owatonna, MN.

Carol Myrtle, the daughter of Leon and Myrtle (Liebrenz) Morsching, was born on December 24, 1933 in Faribault, MN. Carol grew up in Faribault. She graduated from Faribault High School with the Class of 1951. After graduation, Carol was employed as a telephone operator. On May 15, 1954 she was united in marriage to Victor DeGrood at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Carol was a homemaker, raising three children on the family farm. She also took great pride working as the bookkeeper for the family business, DeGrood Oil, until her retirement in 1996. She was an active CCW member, scheduling drivers for Meals on Wheels, serving funeral lunches, and sewing over one hundred quilts that were donated. In 2010 she was honored to receive an Unsung Hero award. Carol spent many hours feeding and watching her backyard birds and creating crafts to share with family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with her family.

Carol is survived by her children, Cathy (Gene) Rossow of Pine Island, MN, Mike (Ann) DeGrood of Faribault, MN, and Connie (Jeff) Allen of Hill City, SD; grandchildren, Brian (Alisa) Rossow, Kevin (Carrie) Rossow, Jason (Melissa) Rossow, Rachel (Travis) Kaufenberg, Kristen (Russell) Dabritz, Tim DeGrood, Jamie (Pat) Fay, Jacob Allen, and Corey Allen; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Devitt, Audrey (Wayne) Quiggle, and Karen Petersmeyer; sisters-in-law, Sr. Marian DeGrood, Barbara Ann DeGrood, Therese DeGrood, Ceil DeGrood, and Joanne DeGrood; brother-in-law, Ed (Phyllis) DeGrood; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Victor; sister, Fern Anderson; brothers, Dale Morsching and Fred Morsching; brothers-in-law, Maurice Devitt, George (Eileen) DeGrood, Robert DeGrood, and Jim (Donna) DeGrood.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church with Bishop Donald DeGrood officiating. Interment will be held at St. Lawrence Cemetery, Faribault.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 A.M. at church prior to Mass.

The family prefers memorials be directed to the Divine Mercy Catholic School United for Our Future Project or Divine Mercy Catholic Church.

 Funeral arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault.
