Carol J. Barry

Carol J. Barry, age 78, lost her battle against Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) surrounded by her beloved family, Daughter Lisa Diffine’ and her husband Richard and her son Steve Barry on January 6, 2023.

Carol was born in Northfield, MN on March 31, 1944 to Frank and Elsie (Ziskovsky) Kasparek. 

Graduating from Bethlehem Academy, she went on to study nursing.  Carol was extremely compassionate and provided expert care from birth to the end of life to every patient she cared for over her vast career of 40+ years as a nurse.

Carol married her sweetheart Mike Barry on January 11, 1964 and soon moved to Buena Park, CA, where they resided until 1983.  Together they had two children, Lisa and Steven.

Carol and Mike relocated to Oklahoma for Mike’s work and then back to Faribault to be with family and her parents. They made their final relocation back to Bixby, Oklahoma. Here she lived in the country where she would sit with her coffee every morning watching her beloved expansive variety of birds.

Carol enjoyed life to its fullest.  Playing weekly dominos, bunco and running around town with her friends and traveling.  Of course, her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Carol’s last days were spent on a 16-day Hawaiian cruise.  Along with family and friends, she put her feet in the warm sand, watched the mighty waves crash against the shorelines, saw butterflies flying flower to flower at the tropical gardens, waterfalls cascading down to the bluest of pools, tasted the richest chocolate and freshly brewed coffee from the organic farms.  She played games, ate delicious gourmet food, and laughed until her cheeks were sore.

Carol will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends.

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.  In accordance with her and Mikes wishes, cremation has taken place.  Both Carol and Mike will be laid to rest June 7, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery.  Celebration of life lunch will follow at the GrandStay Residential Suites Hotel.  For further information, please contact Lisa Diffine’ at budfamily@verizon.net
