Carmen Deney

Carmen J. Deney, age 93, of Faribault passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at the Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Faribault after a long life, well lived.             Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault with the Rev. Fernando Ortega officiating. Interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery, Faribault.             Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday for one hour prior to services.             The family prefers that memorials be directed to Bethlehem Academy High School or the Divine Mercy Catholic Church Building Fund.             Carmen Joan Thibault, the daughter of Arthur and Marie (LeMieux) Thibault was born in 1916 in Faribault. She attended Faribault Senior High School and graduated with the Class of 1934. She attended Itasca Jr. College (Itasca Community College) in Coleraine, MN. On October 1, 1940 she was united in marriage to Alton J. Deney. Mr. Deney preceded her in death in 1997. Carmen was a homemaker for most of her life but held a number of part time positions throughout her marriage. She was an active volunteer with a variety of organizations such as the Visiting Nurse Board, Meals on Wheels, the American Cancer Society and the Civic Music Association. She sang in the church choir at Sacred Heart Church and directed the choir for many years. She was a Eucharistic minister for the church-delivering communion to local Nursing Homes.             She is survived by her three children; Brian (and Maureen Gale) Deney, Joan Trahan and Kevin (and Kathy) Deney all of Faribault; by 6 grandchildren: Babette (and Scott) Schoenig of Burnsville, MN, Sarah (and Matt) Taylor of Golden Valley, MN, Jason Trahan and fiance Tracy Ostrem of Mankato, MN, Erin (and Grant) Klatt of Maple Grove, MN, Anne Deney of Faribault and Mona Maatz of Maple Grove, MN; by two great grandchildren, Brady Klatt and Emma Schoenig; by her sister, Connie Erickson of Faribault and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.             She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her sister, Elaine Little and two brothers, Arthur and Bernard Thibault.
