Carmel Miller

Carmel E. Miller, age 97, a lifelong resident of Faribault, MN, passed away Monday, October 14, 2019 at Emeralds of Faribault Care Center.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N., Faribault, with Rev. Elden Eklund, officiating.  Interment will be at the Maple Lawn Cemetery in Faribault.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Carmel Evelyn was born on June 30, 1922 in Faribault to Charles and Irene (Roell) Joachim.  She graduated from Faribault High School with the class of 1940.  Carmel was married to John Miller on April 18, 1942.  She worked at Nutting Truck and Caster Co., Poirier Drug, and Culligan, all in Faribault.  For 20 years, Carmel volunteered for the Foster Grandparent program at Lincoln Elementary until she was 92.  She enjoyed her flower garden, crocheting, and knitting.  Her husband John preceded her in death on July 31, 1997.

She is survived by her seven children, Carmen (James) Schablitsky of Lakeville, MN, John (Teresa) Miller of Faribault, Robert (Sheryl) Miller of Faribault, Marilyn (Daniel) Bongers of Owatonna, MN, Tom (Linda) Miller of Portland, OR, Gordy (Becky) Miller of Faribault, and James (Kay) Miller of Fergus Falls, MN; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sister, Lois Hohenhaus; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents, Charles and Irene; granddaughters, Missy Miller and Angie Miller; and siblings, Marie Haugen, Gladys Illsley, Jerome Joachim.
