Bradley Wayne Hanson, age 52, of Waseca, died Monday, September 19, 2016 at his home.
A Celebration of Bradley's Life will be held on Friday, September 23, 2016 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the McRaith Funeral Home in Waseca. Interment will be on Friday at 1:00 pm at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston . Arrangements are with the McRaith Funeral Home and Crematory.
Bradley Wayne Hanson was born on June 5, 1964, in North Hollywood, California, to Roger and Ellen (Nelson) Hanson. Brad graduated from Norfolk High School in Norfolk, Nebraska. Following his education he began working various jobs including Walmart. In 1987, Brad enlisted in the United States Army for 3 years on security detail in Germany. He was honorably discharged on February 27, 1990. After returning stateside for 6 months, Brad reenlisted and served his country during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm as a military police officer. He was very proud of his service and saw his fellow soldiers as part of his family. Brad continued working at Walmart where he earned his way into management and was currently working as a field manager.
On April 6, 1985, Bradley was united in marriage to JoAnn Newburn at 1st Congregational Church in Norfolk, Nebraska.. This marriage was blessed with 3 children, together they shared 32 years of marriage. Brad and JoAnn raised their family in Nebraska and Iowa before Brad's job brought him to Waseca in 2000.
Brad enjoyed the outdoors, whether it was sitting on the deck or camping trips with his family. He cherished the time he spent going camping in Pipestone with many friends and family, as well as going on the annual "Boys" weekend with his son's and grandson's. He also enjoyed the countless hours riding motorcycle, especially his trips with JoAnn, family and their group of friends. Brad was a huge Nebraska Cornhusker fan and also enjoyed cheering on the Vikings and Twins. He cherished the time he spent with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a true family man, extending his love to all of his "Chosen Family".
Brad is survived by his loving wife, JoAnn; sons: Patrick (Emily) of Eagle Lake and Michael (Sara) of Spokane, WA; daughter, Caitlyn Hanson of Mankato; 5 grandchildren: Molly, Rory, Aiden, Charlie and Mitchell; parents, Roger and Ellen Hanson; brothers: Brett (Deb) of Alta, IA and Brian (Amy) of Manhattan, KS; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Wounded Warrior Project.
