Bernadette A. DuChene, age 92, of Faribault, died on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at the Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Faribault following a brief illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault. Interment will be at the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. at the church. Arrangements are with the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault. Bernadette Anna Kummer, the daughter of Albert F. and Mathilda (Steil) Kummer, was born on June 24, 1918 in Cold Spring, MN. She was married to Phillip DuChene on April 27, 1937 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault. Phillip preceded her in death on October 5, 1979. Bernadette worked as a cashier at the Piggly Wiggly Store in Faribault for 23 years. Family was a priority for Bernadette and she devoted most of her life to caring for them. She is survived by her son, Ralph (Peggy) DuChene of Blaine; six grandchildren, Jim Malek of Northfield, Jon Malek of Tower, MN, Karel Malek of Northfield, Joe Malek of Faribault, Diane Linngren of Andover, MN, and Debra DuChene of Gaylord, MN; eight great grandchildren; brother, Vic Kummer of Faribault; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter, Phyllis Graff; two sisters in infancy; and two brothers, Gilbert and Wrey Kummer.
