Benedict "Ben" Kubes, 92, of Faribault, died suddenly on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at the Keystone Communities in Faribault. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at 10:30 at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault with Bernadette Tatge, Pastoral Minister of Divine Mercy Catholic Church, officiating. Interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery in Faribault with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association. Visitation will be held on Wednesday for one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Benedict Frank Kubes, the son of John C. and Mary (Tupy) Kubes, was born on May 5, 1919 in Cedar Lake Township, Scott County, MN. Ben served in the United States Army during World War II. After his discharge from the Army, Ben returned to Faribault and began working at Swift Meat Packaging Co. Later Ben worked for the State of Minnesota as a custodian at the Academy for the Deaf for many years. For the past few years Ben has been a resident at the Keystone Communities in Faribault. Ben enjoyed working on ceramics and gardening. He was a member of Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault. He is survived by his brother, Ralph Kubes of Wyoming, MN and by many nieces and nephews and by his brother and sister in laws. He was preceded in death by his parents, by five brothers, John, Joe, Gilbert, Florian and Blaze Kubes and by three sisters, Mary Ann Paquette, Genevieve Trahan and Hedwig De Mars.
