Barbara Jean Nelson Anderson, age 71 of Mankato and formerly of Waseca, died Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at the Autumn Grace Community in Mankato, following an extended illness.
Memorial services will take place at a later date in Ladysmith, Wisconsin.
Local arrangements were completed by McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Waseca, MN.
Barbara Jean, daughter of Raymond and Josephine (Cibik) Nelson, was born on March 5, 1943 in Ladysmith, Wisconsin. After graduating from Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School, she moved to Minneapolis. She then met her future husband, Lynn, and moved to Sioux Falls. They were united in marriage on August 2, 1971 in Canton, South Dakota. They moved to Faribault for 2 years and then settled in Waseca in 1974. They moved from Waseca to Chicago, and then to Plano, Texas. Barb moved back to the Le Center/Mankato area in 2000 and lived in the area until her passing. She enjoyed arts and crafts, baking, cooking, and gardening.
Barb is survived by her husband, Lynn Anderson of Plano, TX; son, Mike Nelson of Le Center, MN; 3 sisters, Carol Nelson of Ladysmith, WI, Judy Brunette of Brooklyn Park, MN and Susan Staege of Cadott, WI; 2 brothers, John Nelson of Mesa, AZ and Ray (Jane) Nelson of Ladysmith, WI; sister-in-law, Mary Cibik of Bloomington, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and by her brother, Bill Cibik.
