Arlene Hildebrandt

Arlene H. Hildebrandt, age 85, formerly of the Nerstrand area, died on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at her home in Northfield, MN, following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Nerstrand United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lora Sturm, officiating. Interment will be held at the Nerstrand Evangelical Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to services.

Arlene Harriet, the daughter of Arty and Ella (Berg) Hanson, was born on March 14, 1931 in Waseca County. She attended District #23 Country School in Waseca County and New Richland High School graduating with the class of 1949. After high school Arlene worked at Josten's in Owatonna, MN until she met Dale Hildebrandt and on July 25, 1954 they were united in marriage at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church in Ellendale, MN. They farmed for 30 years in the Nerstrand community. Arlene also worked for 8 years at Carleton College in food service until her retirement in 1994. After retiring she and Dale moved out to Cannon Lake where they enjoyed spending their last years together. Dale preceded her in death on July 24, 2010. You could always find Arlene baking some type of delicious treat, she was a very good cook and baker. She also enjoyed making baby quilts for her grandchildren and spending time with her family. They always had a huge garden and did a lot of canning and freezing of the fresh produce that they had harvested. Arlene loved to laugh and be silly and had a great sense of humor. She taught her kids to not take life too seriously and learn to laugh at yourself. She was a kind soul and truly loved by everyone who got to know her. She was a member of the Nerstrand United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Cheri (Jon) Albright of Wasilla, AK and Vikki Hildebrandt of Northfield, MN; by five grandchildren, Jeremy (Unchong) Albright, Joel (Sherrie) Albright, Megan Johnson, Andrew Johnson and Ben Johnson; by two great grandchildren, Olivia Albright and Jerrott Albright; by her sister, Eunice Benoit of Northfield, MN and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dale, her son, Jeffrey Hildebrandt and by her infant brother, David.
