Arlene Bernice Morkre, the daughter of Ingmar and Ann (Pederson) Morkre, was born on August 31, 1930 in Faribault, MN. Arlene attended Kenyon High School and graduated with the class of 1948. It was in high school where Arlene met the love of her life, while she was a cheerleader for Kenyon H.S. and Larry was a player on the Faribault H.S. Football Team. She caught Larry's eye and he knew he wanted to ask her on a date. After high school Arlene sold shoes at Karp's Shoe Store in Faribault. On August 19, 1950, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Dozark at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kenyon. After their marriage Arlene stayed at home to raise their growing family. After five of their children were born, Arlene went back to school at the Faribault School of Practical Nursing and graduated with honors and earned her degree as an LPN. "Dozie", as she was known to many, worked from 1960 to 1989 at the District One Hospital in Faribault, primarily in the Maternity Ward, where she helped deliver hundreds of children. Even to the end of her journey, a baby would bring a spark to her eye and much comfort and joy. She loved her family and enjoyed all the time spent with them, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Arlene enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino, her card clubs, working crossword puzzles and was a Den Mother for her sons Cub Scout Troops. Vacations with family and friends were always a highlight. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary in Faribault.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Lawrence Dozark of Faribault, MN; by seven children, Patrick (Risha) Dozark of Houston, TX, Michael Dozark and special friend Faith of Minneapolis, MN, Peter (Lori) Dozark of Rochester, MN, Mary Ann (Dan) Janovsky of Faribault, MN, Daniel (Linda) Dozark of Apple Valley, MN, Nancy (Tom) Clark of Faribault, MN and David (Jamila) Dozark of Faribault, MN; by 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and a great grandchild expected to be born in July; by two brothers, Francis Morkre and Richard Morkre both of Stewartville, MN and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Carolyn Dozark, great granddaughter, Aubrey Dozark, two brothers, Charles and Robert Morkre and by her sister, Grace Redding.
