Anne “Corky” Vranek, age 96, of Faribault, MN, passed away Monday, November 5, 2018 at the Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Faribault.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Lonsdale, MN.
Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday for one hour prior to the services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Divine Mercy Catholic Church or Minnesota Hospice in memory of Anne.
Arrangements are with the Parker Kohl Funeral Home of Faribault.
Anne Alice, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Cervenka) Kalina, was born on May 10, 1922 in Northfield, MN. She graduated from Hopkins High School. Anne was married to George A. Vranek on October 14, 1947 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lonsdale. She and George farmed for many years in the Shieldsville area until 1974. She then worked for 10 years in the cafeteria at the Faribault Junior High. Anne enjoyed quilting at Immaculate Conception Church in Faribault and making rosaries. She was a member of the Faribault Eagle’s Auxiliary and the Eagle’s REAC. Anne and George enjoyed playing cards and attending many dances together at the Eagle’s club. George preceded her in death on April 2, 2002.
She is survived by her children, Alyce (Gary) Ditlevson of Faribault, James (Karen) Vranek of Wrenshall, MN, Thomas Vranek of Juno Beach, FL, and Joan Vranek of St. Paul, MN; grandchildren, Jeremy (Lishe) Vranek, and Jared Vranek; great grandchildren, Nicholas and Rebekah; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by husband, George; parents, Frank and Anna; four brothers, Ed, Bill, Frank, and Richard Kalina; and five sisters, her twin, Alice Kalina, Marie Heipel, Beatrice Nohava, Martha Westberg, and Emily Westberg.
A special thank you to the staff at Pleasant Manor Nursing Home and Minnesota Hospice for the outstanding care they provided for Anne.
