Anne H. Carter, age 73 of Faribault, MN passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN following an extended illness.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N., in Faribault with Fr. Henry Doyle officiating.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers that memorials be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice in memory of Anne.
Anne Haseltine, the daughter of Arthur and Mary-Jessie (Nash) Carter was born on December 2, 1945 in Cleveland, OH. She attended Shaker Heights High School and graduated with the class of 1964. She then went on to attend Colorado Women’s College and received her Associates Degree in 1966 and then attended Colorado State University and received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education in 1969. Anne began her career in 1970 at the Hanover School District in New Hampshire. In 1975 she moved to Owatonna, Minnesota and started a 28-year career as an Owatonna Elementary School Physical Education Teacher, retiring in 2003. In retirement Anne substitute taught in Owatonna for colleagues for 15 years until her health prevented her from working. Anne was beloved by the students that she taught and was recognized as the 2019 honoree at the Owatonna Boy’s Basketball Coaches vs. Cancer game. She enjoyed entertaining with Mary at their lake home on Wells Lake and loved spending time on the water. Over the years Anne and Mary attended four different Olympic Games and from this acquired many Olympic pins that they traded with others. She also enjoyed geneology, geocaching, RVing and card playing. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma in Owatonna, Owatonna Education Association and the Owatonna Area Retired Education Association.
She is survived by her partner of 44 years, Mary Frazier of Faribault, MN; by three sisters, Sally (Andy) Fleming of Shepherdstown, WV, Nancy Kuhn of Ripon, WI and Jane Carter of Fond du Lac, WI; by her brother, David (Nancy) Carter of Pleasant Prairie, WI; by her brother-in-law, Richard Eager of Glen Allen, VA and by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, cousins and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her sister, Mary Eager.
