Anna A. Westphal age 95, long time resident of Eagle Lake, died on Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at Colony Court Assisted Living in Waseca. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, August 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato with Fr. Ted Hottinger S.J. officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be held on Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Memorials are preferred to ISJ Hospice, Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church, or M.A.C.S. Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home of Janesville is handling arrangements. Anna Antonia was born on June 15, 1913 to Anton and Anna (Niederegger) Salfer in Mankato, Minnesota. She attended school at Ss Peter and Paul Parochial School in Mankato. Anna worked as a nurse's aide at St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato. In 1935 she was united in marriage to Duane C. Westphal of Eagle Lake where they farmed until 1974. Anna continued to make her home there until recently when she moved to Colony Court in Waseca. She is survived by her children; a son and daughter-in-law Jerome and Shirley Westphal of Madison Lake, and a daughter and son-in-law Judith and David Masberg of Waterville. She has six grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Teresa Erlandson and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother Anton Salfer, Jr.
