Ann J. Maas, age 91, of Waseca, died peacefully on Sunday, May 25, 2014 at the New Richland Care Center following an extended illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 30, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Waseca, with Father Gregory Leif officiating. Interment will be held at the St. Jarlath Cemetery in Iosco Township, Waseca County.
Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m.
Arrangements are being completed by the McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Waseca.
Ann Julia, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Smrz) Lorentz, was born September 22, 1922 in St. Clair. She attended rural country school and in June 1941, was united in marriage to George Franklin Maas at the St. Ann Catholic Church in Janesville. They were blessed with four children, George, Walter, Roland, and David. After many health issues, Franklin later preceded her in death in June of 1982. Ann worked with Franklin on the farm and also for twenty-five years at Brown Printing in Waseca. She was a longtime member of the Catholic Daughters and also the Sweet-Sommers VFW Post 1642 Ladies Auxiliary. Ann enjoyed fishing, picnics at the lake, crocheting, traveling and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Walt Maas of Waseca, Dave (Marie) Maas of Waseca, and Roland (Sue) Maas of New Boston, MO; her eight grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and also by other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, George in 1972, and by her four brothers and two sisters.
Ann's family would like to thank the staff at the New Richland Care Center for all of their love and support they provided her over the last years.
