Anita Jewison

Anita Vivian (Root) Jewison, 87 of Janesville passed away at home surrounded by her loved ones on Sunday, March 28, 2010. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 1st, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church in Janesville with Fr. Peter Klein and Fr. Harry Jewison, concelebrants. Interment will be in the St. Ann Cemetery, Janesville. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3 to 8 p.m. at Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home in Janesville, and will continue on Thursday morning for one hour prior to services, at church. Anita was born December 22, 1922 to Burchard and Esther (Gehring) Root in Wilton Township, Waseca County, MN. She attended District 21 Country School and New Richland High School, graduating in 1940. Following high school, Anita worked at E.F. Johnson. She later graduated from beauty school in Minneapolis and owned and operated a beauty shop in Waseca until she married. She was united in marriage to William James Jewison on January 3, 1953 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Janesville, MN. She was a member of Saint Ann Catholic Church and the St. Ann's Rosary Society, volunteering for many of their activities.  She devoted her life to her husband, children and grandchildren. Anita enjoyed visiting with family and friends, playing with her grandchildren, reading and serving others. Her favorite service was provided around her kitchen table.    Anita is survived by children Bill (MaryLou) of Janesville, John (Andrea) of Waterville, Jim (Ana), Dan (Marie), Greg, Mary (Gerry) Wolff, & Ron of Janesville, Sam (Becca) of Jackson, WY; 24 grandchildren & 8 great grandchildren, Bill & MaryLou's children: David (Ellen) & daughter Lauren, Julie (Grant) Schultz & children Isabella & Gavin, Katie (Kevin) Johnson & sons Landon & Tyson, Jennifer; John & Andrea's children: Andy, Brian & children Jasmine & Justice, Margaret, Steven, Jacob; Jim & Ana's children: Catalina (fiancée Curt Quast) & daughter Lily, Ashley, Ian; Dan & Marie's children: Molly, Ann; Mary & Gerry's children: Dan, Allison, Kayla, Jill; Ron's children: James, Jennifer, Jacqueline, Jean-Pierre; Sam & Becca's children: Hayden, Erin. Sisters Nona Smith of New Richland, Thelma (Orville) Yess of Saint Paul, Opal Hofius of Merrifield, brother David (Nikki) Root of Denver, CO. Sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Monica Root of Matawan, Ellen Tetzloff, Joe and Rosie Jewison of Janesville, Grace Kopischke, Father Harry Jewison of Rochester, Rita (Jim) Byron of Waseca. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill on February 5, 2010, parents, infant daughter Margaret Jane, infant granddaughter Elizabeth Marie (Dan & Marie's daughter). Brothers Vern, Marvin, William, Donald (in infancy), Orville, Gene, sisters Barbara Tolzmann, Iola Borchert, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Bernice Root, Duane Tolzmann, David Smith, Chuck Hofius, Joe Tetzloff, Elaine & Frank Sheeran, Artie & Rita Jewison, Faye & Art Groh, and Rudy Kopischke.   Casket bearers are her children: Bill Jewison, John Jewison, Jim Jewison, Dan Jewison, Greg Jewison, Mary Wolff, Ron Jewison and Sam Jewison.
