Andrea I. Olsen, age 70 of Waseca, died on May 16, 2011 at her home, surrounded by her family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 20th at 2:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca with Fr. Martin Schaefer, Celebrant. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Waseca. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory in Waseca, and will continue on Friday afternoon for one hour prior to services, at church. There will be a 4:15 p.m. Catholic Daughter Rosary, and 7:30 p.m. parish prayer service, Thursday at the funeral home. Andrea Isabel was born on November 19, 1940 to Eugene P. and Florence (Wobschall) Matz Sr. Andrea attended District 11 school 1-8th grade and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1958. She went on to attend Mankato Commercial College, graduating in 1961. Andrea was united in marriage on September 22, 1962 to James Benjamin "Benny" Olsen at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca. Andrea and Benny started their married life together in Truman, Minnesota. They raised their family and have since resided in Waseca. Andrea had a long career with Waseca County. She worked for several years at the Waseca Abstract Company before serving as County Recorder from 1982 until her retirement in 2003. Andrea was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas-Court Sacred Heart #1424, Winona Council of Catholic Woman, St. Agnes Circle, as well as being a member of the Foxy Red Hatters. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a wonderful friend to all those who were fortunate to have known her. She is survived by her husband Benny of Waseca; by her children, Laurie (Larry) Arth of Clearwater, FL, Judy (Steve) Strauss of Prior Lake, and Greg Olsen of Waseca; by her grandchildren Shauna (Arth) Hattach, Krystal McCarty, Jillian McCarty, Levi Strauss, and Emma Strauss; by her great grandchildren Aaliyah Hattach and Coletyn McCarty; by her siblings, Mary Jean Somers of Waseca, Maureen (Joseph) Collins of Janesville, Patricia Scaletta of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Millie Szyszka of Burlington, VT, Eugene P. (Sandy) Matz Jr. of Waseca, and her foster brothers Russ (Terri) Ingram of Waterville, and James Stuart and his three daughters, of Omaha, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her step-mother Elsie (Hart) Matz; by her infant brother at birth; by her brothers-in-law, Robert Szyszka, John Somers, and Joe Scaletta.
